COMMON SENSE SAYS: The debt ceiling increase is necessary to pay for lawmakers — including Republicans — previously decided to spend. Five of the six presidents who incurred the most debt relative to the size of the economy in the past 60 years were Republicans, yet they lied to us about the last round of tax cuts paying for themselves while spending like a drunken sailor.

How bad do Republicans tell the lies? Read this from the Washington Post;

In 2017, then-Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine) insisted the Trump tax cuts would pay for themselves. By the spring of 2018, it was evident the debt was exploding. The Congressional Budget Office reported, “The largest effects on GDP over the decade stem from the tax act. In CBO’s projections, it boosts the level of real GDP by an average of 0.7 percent and nonfarm payroll employment by an average of 1.1 million jobs over the 2018–2028 period.” The GOP president and GOP Senate cared little about the debt.

Both Collins and McConnell knew that the tax cuts would NOT pay for themselves, but Republicans love to lie to voters. There was no way that the tax cuts were going to dribble down to us. Instead, corporations used the tax cuts to reward shareholders and CEOs.

The only reason McConnell is holding the national debt hostage is that he wants to do everything in his power to make President Biden look bad even though it would be at the expense of veterans and people receiving social security.

Republicans insisted their 2017 tax cut wouldn’t increase the debt; when it did, they kept on spending and refused to adjust the tax giveaway. Now, they refuse to increase the borrowing authority to pay for the deficits they are primarily responsible for.

At one time, the Republican party had values. Now they follow a psychopath and liar. All they want is power, and they will do anything they can to get it back, even if it means screwing over voters.

I often wonder how anyone could be a MAGA supporter, but these are not intelligent people; they’re racists. We need to fight these scum buckets at every chance, and the media needs to do more than quote these idiots; they need to explain to voters why they are wrong and what it will mean.

Republicans love debt
